Chicagoland Family Pet Expo 2012

The Chicagoland Family Pet Expo runs March 16th through the 18th this year and was the first time I exhibited.  My lovely wife Shannon was kind enough to help out with our booth (and snap this photo of me) which was in a great spot with some awesome neighbors.

The Chicago Herpetological Society was right next to us and had a lot of really cool reptiles.  Dick was the man in charge with a walking stick that had 7 snakes on it for people to interact with.

Shannon was brave enough to hang out with the snakes for a bit!

She even made friends with a bearded dragon!

Dick said that it was a photographer's nightmare to photograph the blue tongue of the blue-tongued skink, so I took that as a personal challenge.

One of our other neighbors was Bombshell Bullies Pit Bull Rescue.  Check out some of the adorable dogs they had!

We were also located near a Greyhound rescue group.

We met a bunch of other dogs who dropped by to say hi, including an albino Doberman from Illinois Doberman Rescue.

I've done some photos for Red, the paralyzed pit bull from PAWS Chicago who has a set of Eddie's wheels, and was delighted to have Max stop by to show off his set!

Friday was a great first day and I know the rest of the weekend should be excellent as well!!  Come see us at booth 326 at the Chicagoland Family Pet Expo today (9 am to 6 pm) or tomorrow (10 am to 5 pm) at the Arlington Park Racecourse!

John Green - Are there any animal hospitals in Chicago? I want to know just in case my new dog gets really sick.

Taylor Parker - This is such a great and heartwarming article! I love animals, especially dogs. I grew up with dogs in my home, all through my childhood and I hope to have the same environment for my own children someday. I've been thinking about volunteering in an animal hospital in chicago for some time. I'm going to college in Chicago, and they don't allow pets in the dorms, so I thought I might get my fill of furry animals by spending time in an animal hospital or shelter. Do animal hospital in chicago allow people to come in and volunteer? Do you have to have any special certification?
