52 HeARTs "Hero"

Red is a very special dog.  His back legs are paralzyed, but don't feel sorry for him.  He can get around just as good, if not better, than any other dog with the use of his Eddie's Wheels.  He spent the last 2 years at PAWS Chicago, where he was given constant attention and pampered daily, waiting for just the right owner to take care of his special needs.  That day came just a couple of weeks ago when he was officially adopted.  Check out his adoption party pics here.  

Red wasn't born paralyzed though.  He was shot in the back while defending his owner and their home from a burglary.  His situation looked grim, but with the help of an amazing police officer, numerous vets, and hundreds of shelter volunteers, Red has a new "leash" on life.  And he truly is a hero.
